This is a beautiful pair of antique silver plated cast salts in the form of scallop shells balanced on the tails of dolphins superbly detailed and with the original silver plated spoons.
They bear no maker's name or other marks but on the bottom is a large crown - this was often used by the German Silversmith J D Schleissner & Sohn who worked in Hanau Germany in the mind to late 19th Century.
This firm created beautiful items in silver and silver plate in baroque and other styles and I think it is reasonable to date these salts to that period and to credit them to the maker stated above,
They measure 3 ½” (9 cms) high x 3 ½” (9 cms) across the shells and weigh just under 1 kg the pair which gives you some idea of the quality
